Roadways constructed of solar panels that replace pothole-prone asphalt and generates electricity, self-illuminates roads, self-configures lane-lines, melts snow, uses recycled material, decreases pollution, warns drivers of road hazards, helps the economy by creating jobs, and eliminates the need for telephone poles, snow removal equipment, and constant road repair and repainting. Sound too good to be true? It’s not! And it’s also very plausibly the future of our nation’s freeways, highways, streets, and even bike paths and sport courts (how does change-at-will basketball or tennis courts sound?). The technology is crazy and the possibilities endless.
But are Solar Roadways really as good as they sound? Decide for yourself!
