Police investigating death of man found shot in Midtown apartment – what we know so far

Police are still investigating the death of a man found shot in a Midtown apartment early this morning. The story has dominated local news today.

Michelle Gigante, Public Information Officer for the Sacramento Police Department, gave us an update this afternoon:

Here’s what we we know so far:

– The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. at the Capitol Manor Apartments at 1701 17th Street in Midtown.

-Officers tended to the male victim, who was in his 20’s, until firefighters and paramedics arrived and declared the victim deceased.

– Sacramento police officers detained two people at the scene, a male and a female. Police are not looking for other suspects.

– Police believe the incident is isolated. “We believe this is an isolated incident, that all three people somehow know each other and are affiliated with that apartment where this incident occurred at or near,” said Michelle Gigante, Public Information Officer for the Sacramento Police Department.
