Nationally known for its diverse population, Sacramento regularly hosts an array of cultural events. On Saturday, August 25, Taj Limousines presented the Lavish Dulhan Show 2013 at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West. The event was billed as the ultimate wedding show, and it showcased traditional and nontraditional Indian bridal wear and services.
Several dozen Sacramento-area vendors specializing in bride-and-groom planning services showed their offerings in an elegant setting. Although the event started slowly, the halls hosting the event eventually filled to capacity.
The free event included food and cake tasting. Guests could also get free henna tattooing, and three grand prizes awaited lucky raffle-ticket winners. Couples planning a wedding had the opportunity to win a sound and lighting package for their wedding. A couple’s photo shoot and a wedding hair-and-makeup package were also raffled off. The grand prize featured a diamond ring with a cost of $5,000.
The “Lavish” part of the name adequately fit the event. I have never been to an Indian wedding, so the only thing that I could compare it with would be a Bollywood type of event from an Indian movie. The beautiful colors that adorned outfits, jewelry, arts and crafts, and many of the decorations being sold or offered to create a lavish wedding were astoundingly elegant and colorful.
Many services were discussed at the many vendor tables set up. Catering, floral displays, hair, makeup and photography providers offered package deals. These tables allowed attendees to find many wedding ideas, services and goods that could be used for their special wedding day.
The Lavish Dulhan event included a glamorous fashion show. Hair, makeup and styling gurus Shaikh Beela, Dexe Thao, and Simone Vianna added flair to a set of bridal designs provided by Vama Designs. Besides traditional bridal wear, part of the fashion show was dedicated to intricate henna designs by Neeta Desai Sharma.
Popular singing sensation Mikey Singh was invited to perform after the fashion show and was a hit with the younger audience, who exultantly danced in front of the stage as Singh performed some favorite tunes.
The event not only served to inform engaged couples about bridal event planning, goods and services, but was also quite entertaining.
The Lavish Dulhan Show, on their Facebook page, noted that the event was a success and thanked their followers. The event will return next year and will offer wedding and event planning help, along with entertaining performances.
