The Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (SIGLFF), is celebrating their 22st Anniversary, October 10-12, 2013 at the Crest Theater.
Festival organizers are hosting a “Preview Party” on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Dive Bar, 1016 K Street, Sacramento, 95814 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
Special guest of this year’s SIGLFF Preview Party will be LA Documentary Filmmaker, Kate Logan who will be introducing her latest film, “Kidnapped for Christ”. The film is anticipated to be featured in October at the film festival.
In the film, director Kate Logan goes behind-the-scenes at Escuela Caribe, a “therapeutic Christian boarding school” in the Dominican Republic run by Americans. Logan gets unprecedented access to the school due to her former role as an Evangelical missionary, but in the course of filming she begins to questions the school’s methods for dealing with troubled teens for attitude problems due to homosexuality.
Recently, former N’Sync band member, Lance Bass signed on to the film as executive producer. In a statement Bass said, “It is important for these hidden stories to be told. The world needs to see how damaging places like this can be to our youth.”
Bass joins executive producer, actor and MTV "Real World: D.C." alum Mike C. Manning on the film, as well as producers Paul A. Levin and Yada Zamora for RedThorn Productions. “Parents think they’re doing the right thing by sending their children to these places," Manning said. "We want to show them that these schools are not what they seem.”
This Preview Party will be a premiere unveiling of the 2013 SIGLFF Program. Attendees will have the first opportunity to receive a printed program, view full-length trailers and purchase tickets before they go on sale to the public.
New this year will be a special afternoon matinée, Saturday, October 12, 2013. Early entry will be extended to VIP Festival Pass holders as well as free admittance to the public.
The Preview Party will include complimentary hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and wine tasting. There is a requested donation of $10 or a $40.00 VIP Festival Pass which you can purchase at the door.
