Once again, World Extreme Cagefighting brought a night of hard-hitting, action-packed fights to Sacramento on Saturday night. Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung unexpectedly stole the show with three five-minute rounds of nonstop back-and-forth punches that resembled a scene out of the “Rocky” movies in what might have been the best fight I have ever seen. World Extreme Cagefighting is taking the giant step into the game of Pay Per View events on April 24 in Sacramento at Arco Arena with help from former champ and local favorite, Urijah Faber. Faber, a former Division I UC Davis wrestler and a well seasoned MMA fighter (23-3) will have his hands full when he takes on the Brazilian Jujitsu expert and well-matched Jose Aldo, the current WEC featherweight champion in what many say will be the fight of the year. The WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) did not disappoint Sunday at Arco Arena with an action-packed card. The first fight of the night was a battle that set the stage with Will Campuzano’s bloody victory over Coty Wheeler. Charlie Valencia had a split-decision win over Akitoshi Tamura. Iranian Olympian Kamal Shalorus showed his stand-up skills winning by decision over Dave Jansen. Mike Brown had an easy dominating victory over Anthony Morrison in the first round.
