The residents of Sacramento are lucky to have a world-class musician performing in town this Thursday night. Manish Vyas is a tabla player who usually commands a large audience. He has toured extensively in Europe, USA, India, Israel and Singapore. Over the years, Manish has given countless live concerts and enthralled audiences of thousands of people. The record-breaking number so far was 50,000 in Coimbatore, India in 2004. "World-class" is defined in Webster's as, "Ranking among the best in the world, or an international standard of excellence." I agree that the term is over-used in written and spoken language. Descriptions do lose their punch when used inaccurately. Nobody wants to hear about the "world class appetizers" at the local bar. But in this case, Manish is the epitome of world-class talent. He is known as essentially the best tabla player on earth and is practically revered by other kirtan musicians. Thanks for reading my first article.
