I think that works. Mostly because I see Brooks as a big scoring threat. I'm still concerned we won't be able to space the floor and give Cousins room to work, but the upside is better pick and roll from either guard.

The difference is going to be how we want to feature Cousins in my opinion. I'd be happier surrounding him with shooting rather than "scoring" but that means he's working inside on the low post.

I completely agree about James Johnson. The guy is much bigger in person and it would be a huge benefit to have a guy 6'9" running the wing.

As far as your starting backcourt - I'm not so sure. You were at the game so I know you saw what an impact Thornton can have off the bench. And with Evans' jumper looking much better, here is the lineup I propose:

G Brooks
G Evans
F Johnson
F Thompson
F Cousins

That gives you a bunch of instant energy off the bench in Isaiah Thomas, Thornton, Garcia, Hayes and the rookie Robinson.

Think about that and tell me what you think!

Went to the game Monday and for my money, James Johnson looks like the real deal. I'd start that guy from day one.

And while this might be crazy, I think with JJ's athleticism and weak side help on d, I think the Kings could start a Thomas-Thornton backcourt if they start JJ. Where does that leave Tyreke? I may be in the minority, but I think he starts the season as a super-6th man. I'd love to see him come in and dominate the game and switch up the style of play when we go to our second team.

From everything I've seen recently, the owners are fools and the team is still here. Until they move (and I'm sure the Maloofs are planning it right now) I'll continue to be the Kings fan I always have been.

It's sad that this is becoming a lame duck season where those of us who root for the team remain uncertain and doubtful about their future in town—especially given the commitment of this city, these fans and the NBA itself.

No problem, as it's obvious you're not a fan. But I hate to tell you that you might be in the minority. Did you see how many people wrapped around the block just to get a glimpse?

A lot of folks can't afford to go to the races, so for some, this is as close as they may ever get to witnessing something from their favorite sport.

Like I said, when the Jeff Gordon, like him or not, hauler pulled in front of the Capitol, a huge roar came from the crowd as if the five-time champ was there in person.

For fans, just being that close gives them a visceral reaction that they probably couldn't even explain.

You don't this find this kind of support for any other sport in the US.

I was at the premiere of Small Market, Big Heart in January and let me tell you -- there wasn't a dry eye in the Crest Theatre! No matter what the final outcome -- new arena or Kings relocating -- Sacramento has had a love affair with our team, the Sacramento Kings, for 27 years and no one can ever take those memories away from us. This documentary isn't political propaganda -- it's a trip down memory lane and a record of the grassroots effort to keep the Kings in Sacramento. It will touch the hearts of Sacramentans and sports fans everywhere. Do yourself a solid and watch this film! Here's to the Lemonade Boys!

The zombie arena movie fad is over. Small market--big deal.

Seattle lost "its" team because they insisted that any new arena be equitable in economic return, and the economic model of the NBA is based on taking as much money as they can from the cities, while promising as little as possible in terms of stability. Without the threat of being able to leave at any time, they don't have a way to blackmail cities into providing gifts like public-funded arenas.

Thank you very much reader. I always appreciate a good comment. I see Ailene all the time at Kings games and practices and at some River Cats games. I hate to say it, but over the years, she has alienated herself from a few of the Kings players with some of the things she's written. But I do give her credit for some of the things she has brought up in the past regarding what the team is doing right or wrong.

Funny you say that. After getting to know him a little - and knowing he hardly smiles - I straight up asked him after the game "If someone said you played angry, would you agree?" He snatched that up quicker than a dog after a bone.

You get a lot of honesty in that locker room and the more they see me around, the more they know they can trust me and it makes my job much more interesting!

Wow, that's some good GF knowledge. I love the Kings draft (and I'm a Warriors fan) I think Jimmers game will translate to the NBA. People who make JJ Reddick (who is a decent pro) comparisons aren't paying attention. Jimmer was a better passer, much stronger, and far more adept at creating his own shot than JJ was in college. I don't think he'll be a superstar, but he'll be a solid, and very exciting pro. Thomas could be really good as well, a steal with the last pick of the draft. I saw him carry UDub on his back at times, he has flashes of serious brilliance, Honeycutt should make the team and contribute as well. I don't really understand the Beno for Salmons trade however. I don't make that trade straight up, let alone moving down 3 spots. Salmons scores points on bad teams. The kings have plenty of people who can do that. They don't have many people who do what Beno did. But they got Jimmer anyways, so the trading down wasn't a big loss. Jimmer, Evans, Thornton, Salmons, Cousins. . . The Kings are gonna put up points like crazy. I'm bummed I won't be in Sac to watch.
