About MeAfter retiring in 2004 from my editing and publishing business, I embraced singing, which has been a lifelong avocation. Of the musical organizations I've sung with, the most recent is the Sierra Community Chorus (now the Placer Pops Chorale), of which I was president during most of the period 2004-2011. Now my passion is to promote local performing arts. I started the Placer Performance Calendar (www.perfcal.com) in 2009 to document all the public performing arts events in South Placer County and Folsom (covering some 100 organizations). In September 2011, I started the Sacramento Choral Calendar (www.sacchoralcalendar.com) to document the activities of the 70 independent and college-affiliated choruses in the greater Sacramento area. |

They meet twice a month t

With the holiday performance season fast approaching, there are 70 independent and college-affiliated choruses in the greater Sacramento area that are looking for singers. A few want near-professional-quality singers, but the great majority are just looking for someone who can carry a tune. In many cases they don’t expect you to read music or have previous choral experience. There are men’s groups, women’s groups, and mixed choruses, and about one-third of them sp
