Cinco de mayo is celebrated mostly in the U.S. and Puebla. The defeat of the French in Puebla was a symbolic victory for the struggle against the French invaders. Maximilian was executed three years later and the French were forced to leave. I guess that's cause for celebrating. It's also good for the local economy (check out your local grocery store) and Sacramento offers plenty of venues for cinco de mayo for those who want to celebrate.

Latitude 11, It's always great to see public officials making the time and effort to meet their constituents publicly. It shows what issues they care about no matter what party they're affiliated with.

Paul, Director of Programming Jodon Bellofatto has previously stated that females outnumber males at SacAnime but I'm not sure what the actual numbers are. Many more females than males dress in cosplay and those two (maybe more) factors probably gives the perception you've noted.

Thanks Trina. Three Stages has a wonderful set up, not only for large theatrical performances but for smaller venues as well with the other two stages. The CMBA performance was very entertaining.

I guess the event was cancelled? I was there a few minutes after 2:00 and only saw what Paul Trudeau noted above; a police car and 3 ranger cars.

Pcax, the event is held at the William Land Park, Village Green Area which is next to Funderland by the golf course.
