2016 seems like quite a while to put in work on fully decriminalizing marijuana in California. There are plenty of other states taking the correct steps NOW, not just Colorado and Washington. There are four states that have decriminalizion bills being passed through their legal systems right now, including Hawaii and New Jersey. Yet California, the state that really pioneered and put medicinal marijuana in the spotlight, we are just going to sit back and wait until 2016? Doesn't sound right to me. Take the time out of your day to watch this excellent video of Peter Christ, a member of LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition). It truly is mind-changing: "Christ reviews how our prohibition of alcohol was utterly ineffective, increased crime rates, and endangered otherwise law abiding citizens. He explains that laws should be designed to protect us from each other, not "protect us from ourselves." Christ shows that morality policing has always been utterly ineffective, and he has the stats to prove it. Christ then goes on to paint the more pertinent issue: violent crime and incarceration rates in this country are fed almost entirely by the war on drugs. We're destroying the lives of millions of non-violent offenders. We have the biggest prison system in the world, and the most efficient — and yet drugs are prevalent throughout all of them, so we can't even enact an effective drug enforcement policy in the jails where we house drug users." http://www.policymic.com/articles/30783/marijuana-legalization-meet-peter-christ-the-ex-cop-who-s-working-to-end-the-drug-war-video/414512
I was unsure recently which way the local beer scene would go but it is now clear to me. Our beer scene is going the route of wine as opposed to spirits. You see, beer styled as wine will result in many different small tweaks of the same variety, thus thousands of varieties of different IPAs. The possibilities are almost endless, and each brewery will keep trying a new blend or twist to have a completely unique product. Beer styled like spirits would result in a limited number of varieties, but with more focus on brewing them to perfection. You have your general styles of spirits such as Gin, Vodka, Scotch, and several subtypes of various styles. There is no unfiltered Vodka, for example. The recipes are generally the same but each manufacturer uses what they believe to be the best ingredients and manufacturing process. In other parts of the world, Munich, Germany for example, brewers stick to "basic" styles of beer and focus on creating a perfect end product.
You are so well informed on the important news/rumors that everyone in town should want to be your friend.
Good for him. I think he is an excellent chef and an even greater person. I don't think Tuli gets enough praise for the amazing food they are putting out. I am fairly certain he gets picked for a team, just based on his talents, and I will hope he gets picked by Ludo Lefebvre or Anthony Bourdain.
