I'd love to see more coverage of issues/events for neighborhoods outside of Downtown/Midtown.
I think walkability is important to all neighborhoods. I'd like to hear Mr. Speck's thoughts on walkability of our commercial corridors. What he thinks are the best way to include walkability in the reuse of areas that weren't designed with the pedestrian in mind (i.e Stockton Blvd, Del Paso Blvd, Franklin Blvd, and Tahoe Park). Midtown and downtown already have walkable streets. I think the real challenge for our city is to make our first suburbs more pedestrian friendly.
It's cruel to force people to live in cars when there are better options to get folks back on the road to self sufficientcy. Simple affordable housing with on-site supportive services has been shown time and time again to be the beat and most econonmical way to get people out of homelessness. We shouldn't have people living in cars anywhere in our city.
Excellent program.
