Conversation about: Safe Ground Sacramento holds week long camp-out to educate on homelessness

I think the main problem for me with this event (besides the bad taste still lingering from the last Safe Ground experiment in my neighborhood) is that this was carried out in such an underhanded way by the City of Sacramento. I do not know of ANY 8 day event that the city has approved in a residential neighborhood, but if there were any, the neighborhood would likely have been heavily involved in the decision-making part of it. Because this came as such a complete surprise to just about everybody in the hood, of course there were some strong reactions to this. To me, this indicates a complete lack of respect for the residents of Alkali/Mansion Flats.

True. We do need to do something about/for the homeless. This, unfortunately isn't it. I'm not sure what this is supposed to accomplish at all. The organizers kept talking about teaching and awareness but were unable to communicate who, exactly, it is supposed to educate, other than describing it as some sort of 60s hippy teach in. I know he made promises to the homeless the last time Safe Ground did a Shake Down (again on one of Mark Merin's eyesore empty lots that keeps the neighborhood looking like crap). Apparently, nothing came of that.

It's usually the people whose back yards this is NOT happening in that complain about NIMBYism. And for your information, the Alkali/Mansion Flats neighborhood has WAY more than it's share of the homeless in our backyard.

Conversation about: Shots fired into Midtown's Buckhorn Grill Friday morning

The highway patrol can be found hiding at intersections far away from the State Capitol grounds, waiting to catch evil doers that might roll through a stop sign at an empty intersection. If you have an emergency, just run to 17th and E. You can usually find a highway patrol officer there.
