"Play2Survive" Raises Money for Local High Schools

I got to sit down with the founders of "Play2Survive", Michael Lang and Jackson Harris. I have never heard of an event that includes playing tag as a zombie. Lang, a coach, who has been involved in the community for several years apsires to help raise money for local high schools.  What inspired you to create a Zombie Tag game? Harris: I was browsing Facebook one day a few years ago and saw a zombie tag game, similar to ours, out in Virginia (where I went to High school) and thought it was a cool idea and wanted to go. I was in the middle of a semester of college in California so I couldn't just fly out there and decided that maybe I could call a few friends and try to host one myself i

The invasion of Zombies in Old Sacramento

The Invasion of zombies in Old Sacramento was a huge success last night. Hundreds of people showed up buying wrist bands at Shenanigan’s on J Street. Proceeds went to support our local troops, veterans and those affiliated with the American Legion. The local kid band "Alive and Burning" played rocken tunes about Zombies at Shenanigan's .The zombie run started from Shenanigan’s and went to the K Street mall tunnel. Annet King comes to Sacramento

For those who do not know who Annet King is let me first tell you that she is one of the most inspiring women I have ever met.  Annett King is the Director of Global Education for the International Dermal Institute (IDI) and Dermalogica. Her visit to Sacramento was for local undergrad students who are working hard in school to become esteticians. She spoke today at the International Dermal Institute in Sacramento, off of Howe Ave. I myself and many others were honored to hear her speak. The topic today was on “Making the Leap”; the start to a career in the skin care proffession. Annet King dicussed some valuable information about how education should never end after graduating school. Sh

Sacramento Lightning goes on for Hours

My son comes out of his room around 10 pm Sunday evening. He says to me, "Mom there’s lighting!" I told him to go back to bed that there was no lighting that the day was so nice that there couldn't have been. Sure enough I saw I was wrong when I peered out side to find giant bolts of lightning coming from the northeast towards the foot hill area. I snapped a few photos and took some video but it was definitely a very strange site to see. There were some weather advisories for those who were on the road; the news stated “change in weather patterns”. Posts began to show up all over face book with pictures lighting and people commenting on how the weather was so strange. Sacramento does not t

Interview with Jason Rudy, Filmmaker of 'Mondo Sacramento'

Desperate Visions Productions announces the premiere of “Mondo Sacramento” at the historic Crest Theatre April 24 and 25. It is the newest production from its creative filmmaker Jason Rudy.   I sat down with Jason at a coffe shop in mid- town Sacramento and asked him some questions about what he does.  Tell readers a little about yourself.  I have always loved movies and began my research into creating movies at the age of 15. From there I got into the underground scene, like “Pink Flamingos” and “Rocky Horror Picture Show.” I read and read to learn everything I could possibly know about it. I am a self-taught filmmaker with much information on anything that has to do with making movie
