Thomas Dolby is Blinding PBS with Science in an exclusive concert at KVIE

Best known for his blockbuster hit "She Blinded Me with Science", Thomas Dolby has been a pioneer in the music industry since the early 80's debut of The Golden Age of Wireless. His unique style of blending technology and music made us all wish we could know Miss Sakamoto personally. Good Heavens! Dolby's innovative style and massive 80's hair kept our eyes glued to the screen whether he was teaching us about synthesizers or engaging in an epic synth battle at the 1985 Grammy Awards (warning: you can't un-see the hair). In 2001, Dolby began work as the Musical Director of the TED Conference - a mecca for thinking people, innovators, inventors, and generally smart and cool people. And whi

Conversation about: What's With That: Eagle Scouts, curing AIDS, and anger management

This was the best quote in there: Morgan continued, “Now it means that I am among the highest achievers in an institution that chooses to see sexuality as one of the most important driving forces in what determines the quality of our character, and who finds it impossible to be a strong leader and role model while being gay … " - I think that's one of the best explanations I have heard from a Boy Scout, clearly pointing out the root of the problem. An institution that believes that gender preference defines character doesn't clearly understand the world we live in.

Conversation about: 18 Days of State Fair Kicked Off Today

You mean 18 days of horrific traffic on my commute ;-). But seriously - I love the fair...the rides, the fun houses, the bbq, the chocolate covered bacon...it's Big Fun all the way! Update: Unfortunately I have to change my feelings about the fair this year. We did NOT have a good time...the midway was really a bust. Rides removed, rides in disrepair, half of the funhouses were broken, the dark rides were just...awful. Lights were out on almost every single attraction. Food options were homogenized; agriculture/livestock felt like it was half what it has been in the past; some of the counties really phoned in their booths. It just wasn't Big Fun anymore. The cost for admission + unlimited ride bands was wasted this year. Really sad to see that attention to detail and quality was a big miss.
