Divine wine and chocolate for Sacramento Children’s Chorus

It was a night filled with drinks and divine desserts for the Sacramento Children’s Chorus’ Wine and Chocolate: A Harmony of Tastes fundraiser at Revolution Wines Friday night. According to Sacramento Children’s Chorus’ executive director Daphne Quist, the event was held in honor of the chorus to raise money for the organization, some of which will go toward tuition scholarships for students. “It was a great success for our organization,” Quist said. Filling Empty Bowls - photos

The River City Food Bank held its 8th Annual Empty Bowls fundraising dinner Monday at the Masonic Lodge in downtown Sacramento. Two luncheons are scheduled for today. The events raise awareness about hunger in the Sacramento area and serve as the River City Food Bank's most important fundraiser. The Food Bank building was destroyed in a fire last fall and their fundraising efforts are more urgent than before. River City Food Bank hosts Empty Bowls fundraiser events

The River City Food Bank is hosting its eighth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser and Potters’ Market events on March 7 and 8 at the Sacramento Masonic Temple to raise awareness about hunger in Sacramento County. Eileen Thomas, the executive director of River City Food Bank, said she finds the communities coming together most rewarding. “It’s a wonderful melding of community effort to help the hungry,” she said. “Preparation is huge – we have over 100 volunteers, seven restaurants providing soups, and 1,500 bowls,” Thomas said. Empty Bowls serves up soup to fight hunger

Since stormy winter days have almost everyone thinking about soup, it's a good thing River City Food Bank's 8th annual fundraising event is just days away. As in previous years, Empty Bowls features some of the area’s finest restaurants serving up their best soups- all to raise awareness about hunger in the region. Everyone who attends Empty Bowls chooses from among 1,500 bowls, hand-crafted by Sacramento students and professional potters. The bowls represent people across the region who don’t have enough to eat. As many as one in seven people report that they don’t always have enough money to provide their families with food. River City High School seniors participate in marriage fundraiser

West Sacramento's River City High School seniors began what they call a “Marriage Fundraiser” on Valentine's Day, which will last one week and attempt to bring much needed funds for extracurricular activities such as their senior trip to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and San Francisco. Unlike marriages issued by the state, anyone can get married and it costs only $1 It was a marriage free-for-all in the cafeteria. Students lined up at lunchtime and gathered with their friends. Eighth annual Run Rocklin will once again benefit Matt Redding Foundation

The eighth annual “Run Rocklin” will be held Sunday, April 3 at Johnson-Springview Park in Rocklin. Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) offers eight varied programs, including the greatly impactful Clothing program.
