Playing a fusion of traditional Irish music with a mix of bluegrass sensibilities and punk timing, local band Whiskey and Stitches will play at the Fox and Goose Public House on St. Patrick’s Day. With influences including Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly and The Pogues, some might expect to find Whiskey and Stitches composed of hard-drinking rogues, but guitarist and vocalist Mike McCarrick, 40, said that’s not the case. “The ability to play a song and pull it off when you’re absolutely hammered – it’s great in theory, but in reality it doesn’t work,” he said. “You forget the song and the words and the chords.” McCarrick’s day job is as a coding specialist for Sutter Health, mandolin p

We’re down to the last 3 Concerts in the Park. After the Bastards of Young, Final Summation and Whiskey & Stitches show on Friday the last two shows will be in August. Last year there was talk of the Concerts in the Park going for several weeks after the scheduled events but it only went one week then it stopped. Folsom and El Dorado Hills have Friday Night Concerts as well and they will also end their series in the next couple of weeks (if they haven’t already).
