Eateries and "Drinkeries" wanted for Sacramento Chef Challenge

2012 marks the tenth anniversary of our region’s premier culinary competition the Sacramento Chef Challenge, and organizers are inviting local restaurants, wineries, breweries and specialty shops to showcase their fare at the June 23rd event. The Sacramento Chef Challenge is a culinary extravaganza featuring two live cooking competitions, lavish food, wine and beer sampling, live music, raffle prizes and more. In early 2001, Larry Olson got his first taste of the music industry when friend, Jeremiah Ferguson, asked Larry to book some shows for his band, Race Train Schizo. After a short while Larry became the band's manager. "It's funny, I never had any interest in the music industry before I met Jeremiah. I loved music, I had my favorite bands, but looking back on it now, I don't think I ever heard music before I met Jeremiah. I always listened to it, but I don't think I ever heard it." Social Media for the Social Good—Non-profits Explore New Methods of Outreach

Three local non-profit organizations were featured in a Sacramento Social Media Club panel on Tuesday evening hosted by the Sacramento State College of Continuing Education. The panel included Celia Cortez, Projects and Event Manager for the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Jordan Blair, Board Member for River City Food Bank; and Jon Benorden, Program Coordinator for the Center for AIDS Research, Education and Service (CARES).
