Unseen Heroes: Behind the Scenes

Roshaun and Maritza Davis of Unseen Heroes bring their passion and expertise to many of the finely-crafted events you see in Sacramento. And, while their name implies they are usually a behind-the-scenes sort of crew, Sacramento365.com thought it was time to shed some light on all this organization does for Sacramento. Unseen Heroes have been key components behind many Sacramento events and activities--such as the Modern Italian Film Festival, Launch, and pop-up shops around town (think the Fiats at Hot Italian)--and are currently delving into the local food and design community with the GOOD: Street Food + Design Market. Solving budget problems by 'getting our house in order'

City staff members want to fix Sacramento’s budget problems by revamping the city’s current organizational structure – and they want to do it by February. Northern California still struggles to recover from one of the worst recessions in more than 75 years, and the city of Sacramento has been hit especially hard. The ICS regional chili cook-off

Eye on Sacramento, a nonprofit Sacramento-based government watchdog organization, has recently been launched in the city of Sacramento to maintain a watchful eye on the policies and actions of the city government. “We formed EOS because we believe that too little attention is paid to the broad public interest and too much attention is paid to special interests,” said EOS President Craig Powell. “The public has little inside knowledge of what really goes on in city government. We hope to change that.” “Eye on Sacramento was started by a core group of about nine people who were active in the Campaign for Common Sense Utilities Rates (the group that sponsored Measure B on the November 2010

Stott estimated that since Friday WEAVE has raised over $63, 000. Stott said all proceeds will go to WEAVE and benefit the various services that WEAVE provides, including counseling, WEAVE safe house, legal assistance, prevention programs and 24-hour support and response teams to help survivors of sexual assault.
