Wee Halloween: Crocker Art Museum; Wed 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Celebrate the "wee" in Halloween with this fright-free alternative to trick-or-treating. Families will start by decorating treat bags before being guided in small groups through the galleries.

Boo at the Zoo: Sacramento Zoo; Tues & Wed 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Kids can safely trick-or-treat around the lake at twenty-five different candy stations and other activities include magic shows, costume dance party, ghoulish games, and lots of family fun. You can also ride the spooky train or creepy carousel; just watch out for things that go boo.

Halloween Carnival & Haunted House: Jose Rizal Community Center;
Wed 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
This event will feature a costume contest, family-friendly haunted house, monster photo shoot, carnival games, a neighborhood-themed candy walk, and more.

Nighttime Thrills:
Halloween with DJ Crooked: The Park Ultra Lounge; Wed 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.
For the third year in a row, DJ Crooked returns to kill the dance floor with his thrilling beats at this spooky Halloween party. Come dressed in your sexiest, scariest, and wildest costumes and compete in a $1,000 costume contest.

Nightmare in Old Sacramento: Old Sacramento Bars; Wed 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Join the 8 participating restaurant/bars in Old Sacramento for a Nightmare in Old Sacramento. Each bar will feature drink specials, entertainment, and no cover charge.

Transylvania: District 30; Wed 10 p.m. – 3 a.m.
District 30 is magically transformed into the dark fantasy world of Dracula's Transylvania. DJ Donald Glaude provides the beats for this free Halloween party.

Laugh Yourself Silly:
Black Out Show: Halloween Bash: Punch Line Comedy Club; Wed 8 p.m.
Come out to this year's hilarious Halloween comedy showcase and see Cocoa Brown plus special guest Cheryl "The Soccer Mom" Anderson.

Teen Slasher: Improvised Halloween Comedy: Blacktop Comedy;
Wed 8 p.m.
Equal parts comedy horror and audience suggestions, Teen Slasher will leave you laughing long after the lights die.

The Haunt: UC Davis Main Theatre – Wright Hall;
Tues & Wed 7:30 p.m. – Midnight
This inaugural performance-based haunted house and dance party provides a spine-tingling way to celebrate the Halloween season. The haunted house includes seven performance stages with start times every 30 minutes and a costume dance.

Blood Kiss: A Play to Chill You: Fusion International Arts Center;
Tues 8 p.m.; Wed 8 p.m. & 11 p.m.
The best players from Scream Society, an online gaming community, are invited to an evening of live game playing. As the evening progresses they see that the usual virtual reality become true reality and realize that possibly no one will survive.

The Woman in Black: A Halloween Thriller: Capital Stage;
Wed & Thurs 8 p.m.
A Capital Stage tradition, this 7th annual fundraising event presents Stephen Mallatratt's classic ghost story, The Woman in Black, as a staged-reading.

Frightful Film:
Wednesday Halloween Nooner: Ghostbusters Film Screening: Sacramento State – University Union Redwood Room;
Wed Noon – 1:45 p.m.
Come out and enjoy a free movie screening of the 1984 comedy Ghostbusters, starring Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Sigourney Weaver.

Nerd Night: Dorktober Fest: Bows & Arrows; Wed 7 p.m.
Enjoy a costume contest, karaoke contest, and scary movie scenes on the patio hosted by Barry'd Alive.

A Nightmare on Trash Street: Crest Theatre; Wed 8 p.m. *Show 9 p.m.
Trash Film Orgy Halloween 2012 features A Nightmare on Elm Street, the 1984 horror classic presented in glorious 35mm. There will also be a live stage show, games, contests, prizes, weird horror shorts, beer, wine, shenanigans, and much, much more.

Haunting Experiences:
Mysterium: East Valley Church; Tues 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Wed 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Mysterium will have you guessing around every corner with surprises and riddling rooms. Remember: not everything is as it seems.

Dave’s Haunted Corn Maze: Dave’s Pumpkin Patch;
Tues & Wed Dusk-Midnight
Also known as the “field of screams,” Dave's haunted corn maze is based on an eerie story about a man named Clyde and his terrifying experience with scarecrows. Come learn about the story and be scared out of your pants.

Fright Planet Haunted Theme Park: Cal Expo;
Tues/Wed/Fri 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Sacramento's only indoor scream park features nine different attractions this year, including the Scream Max Theater in 3-D, the Distorted maze, and Buried Alive the ride.

Looking for a special way to turn your Valentine’s Day into a memorable holiday? There are myriad options out there, but here are a few highlights for the upcoming weekend:

For the foodie (Fri & Sat 6pm): Let GrubCrawlUSA's Pre-Valentine's Sexy Singles Mingle & Consensual Couples Crawl take you on a taste-tastic tour of Sacramento's finest dining spots. Whether you’re single or paired up, there’s a spot for you—Friday is aimed toward singles & Saturday to couples (so, presumably, if you find someone on Friday you can make a return tour on Saturday!).

For the single lady (Fri 9pm): Stroll Now 100.5’s Mile of Men at The Park Ultra Lounge and take your pick from the area's most eligible bachelors. Stay for the afterparty and get your photo snapped in the photobooth manned by Nicholas Wray.

For the sporty sort (Sat 7am): Rise & shine Saturday morning and get your jog on at Race for Justice: 9th Annual Valentine Run, which begins from Country Club Plaza. This fun run has a kids' race component, plus a costume contest for dogs & humans alike!

For the musical type (Sat 10pm): Make your way to Vega's Nightclub & Sports Bar this Saturday night for Valentine's Heartbreak Hotel. Not only you will you enjoy live music by Barrel Fever and the Fortunite Few, you'll also get to see a live burlesque show and participate in a free pin-up photoshoot by Bad Bones Photography.

For the animal lover (Sun 10am-4pm): Head over to the Sacramento Zoo Sunday afternoon for I Heart Sacramento Zoo and watch the animals receive their Valentines, plus participate in informative talks and peruse activity tables.

For the anti-Valentine (Sun 7:30pm): Movies on a Big Screen notes that around Valentine's Day, they like to screen "some kind of movie that might make your date a little uncomfortable with your idea of romance." This Sunday evening, they feature the 1923 silent classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which, they claim, is a romantic movie (if you remove all of the violence, murder, mayhem, and obsession, that is).
