If you’re into the thrill of the hunt and the triumph of discovery, gather your friends and prepare to flex your mental muscle Saturday in the Mastermind Hunt: Sacramento.

This information-based scavenger hunt spanning the Midtown/downtown area pits teams of self-made sleuths against one another in a friendly game solving a series of fun and challenging clues that lead to landmarks, public art and local businesses.

Teamwork is key in the Mastermind Hunt: Clues can involve wordplay, puzzles, trivia, simple code-breaking or other challenges, according to the Mastermind website. Thinking outside the box and using your team’s collective brainpower will win the day.

Teams solving the most clues in the shortest time win prizes including gift packs from Downtown Grid, and the top three finishers will win gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants worth more than $100.

You don’t have to be a brainiac to enjoy the game, but you will need a good pair of shoes along with your sense of adventure, because players can’t use anything with wheels to get around during the hunt.

The Mastermind Hunt: Sacramento starts at the Courtyard at 1801 L St. and is open to anyone ages 10 and up. It’s a great way to explore hidden gems located around the Capitol, according to the Mastermind website. After the game, players can stick around to enjoy all that the Second Saturday Art Walk has to offer.

Registration costs $25 per player and includes a clue packet and detailed map for the game.

To register, go to the Mastermind website.
