If a Disney princess decided to become a country pop superstar, then that superstar would be Taylor Swift. She was so perfect, it seemed abnormal. Everything about the Grammy Award-winning musician Saturday night was whimsically on-cue as she performed to a sold-out show at the Power Balance Pavilion, promoting her third album, “Speak Now.” “This is the first time we’re headlining a big arena concert in Sacramento,” Swift said. “I can’t believe 13,000 of you decided to be here than anywhere else on a Saturday night.” Swift’s movements on stage, while performing and speaking to the crowd, were that of the White Queen’s from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” completely ethereal, while
The warm voice of Sara Bareilles welcomed fans to Thursday night’s show at Raley Field. Bareilles seemed at home here in Sacramento, perhaps due to the proximity to her hometown of Eureka. There was an extra bounce in her step as she sang away to the ballpark stands, the smell of hotdogs wafting in the air. She let fans hear, “Love Song,” early on, which made everyone happy, and followed up soon after with “Many the Miles.” Throughout her performance, Bareilles really took liberties with the sound and tempo for both old and new material. She also informed the audience that she had spent all of Wednesday filming the music video for “Gonna Get Over You,” her newest single, which she then pe

With a grace and demeanor from a throw-back era of performers, Tony Orlando and his band performed last night at Thunder Valley Casino’s Holiday Pavilion. From the moment he stepped onto the stage till his final adieu Tony gave the audience exactly what they came for – a real performance. Although he has been performing for almost 50 years Tony still has the stage presence of a younger artist. For 90 minutes he walked back and forth across the stage, engaged the audience and even performed with Santa Clause. The stage was a playground last night for Tony and he used it to its fullest. Throughout the night Tony made sure that he was not the only entertainer on stage. His fellow band me

Punchline Comedy Club in Sacramento put on a night of laughs with Steve Mazan and headliner Dennis Gaxiola. After a fifteen minute set John introduced Steve Mazan, a comedian from Southern California, who has appeared on The Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Steve has a distinct comedy style that is fast-paced, gritty and situ
What does one do the night before Thanksgiving? Prepare your food, meet with family or head down to the Punch Line Comedy Club and watch five nationally featured comedians make you laugh out loud? Option three was what happened Wednesday night at the Punch Line Comedy club in Sacramento. Kevin Munroe, Bryan Yang, Ray Molina, Keith Lowell Jensen and Ngaio Bealum performed as the ‘Sacramento Comedy All Stars’ and what a show it was. To start the evening Kevin Munroe jumped on stage and told the audience he was from Trinidad – a country so small that the 100 meter dash has a left turn. He continued with what he was told when he first moved here, “we are taking you to the land of opportunity
