The elegance of the Citizen Hotel was a great setting for Sacramento Fashion Week's “Fashion Affair” event. The gathering held on Thursday, Jan. 17 gave designers, models, hair, makeup and other fashion professionals the opportunity to socialize and network. The Sacramento Banana Festival returned to William Land Park this past weekend for the third time. This year’s theme was Bananarama. Dozens of performances took place during the two-day festival celebrating community involvement, art, music, food, diversity, health, wellness, culture and of course, bananas. Two acts performed simultaneously throughout both days. In between the two stages, the Children’s Stage and the Main Stage, an open air marketplace housed vendors, informational booths and a food court that offered an assortment of banana and other dishes. Months of preparation culminated in a great fashion showcase for International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT). The Imagine Design Expo 2012 was held on Friday, June 22 at the Hilton Arden West Hotel. An awestruck audience of approximately 250 attended the Imagine Fashion Show and enjoyed an evening of wonderful fashion designs created by IADT students. The annual event began with an initial model casting in March 31. Magnum Opus producers of Sacramento Fashion Week contributed to the staging of this event. In preparation for Sacramento’s International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) annual Imagine Fashion Show the school held their final fitting day. Several designers and models attended the fitting on Friday, May 11. During the final fitting designers put  finishing touches on their designs. At this time several models had dropped out of the event because of various reasons and new castings were going through their initial fittings as well. Several students from the International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT) participated in a fashion show at the Arden Fair Mall. The fashion show was part of the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure in-person registration event held at the Arden Fair Mall. In-person registration started on the first floor in front of Nordstrom on May 5 and will continue until May 11. Registration will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The 2012 Komen Sacramento Valley Race for the Cure will take place on May 12 at Cal Expo. The event raises critical funds and breast cancer awareness. Most of us think of art as something done on canvas. On Friday, April 20 Monica Gibson Constancio, in her own way, used children’s wear as her canvass to debut a beautiful line full of artistic creations with vibrant colors. “Kidz Art for Kids Clothes” was held at Creative Vera Studio located at 1200 S Street. FUSE Apparel and Possibility Publishing & Entertainment (T2PS) presented the event attended by guests of all ages creating a fun family atmosphere. Sacramento’s International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) will present their fifth annual Imagine Showcase “Design Expo 2012” on Friday June 22 at the Hilton Arden West Hotel. A model casting call, coordinated by Magnum Opus Events, was held on Saturday, March 31 at IADT located at 2450 Del Paso Road. The casting call was held on a rainy day and designers sat at several tables to select models for the fashion show. Maverick Photography documented the event. The International Academy of Design & Technology, located at 2450 Del Paso Road in Sacramento, hosted a model boot camp and a style workshop for designers, models and fashion industry representatives Wednesday evening as part of Sacramento Fashion Week. Day 2 of the event was well attended with both free workshops filled to capacity. IADT students were well represented at the workshops, although the public was welcome as well. Mayahuel Tequila Museo hosted an elegant evening of fashion on Thursday night. Designers scheduled to participate in the Designer Showcase were on hand to celebrate a Sacramento Fashion Week Press Party. This year’s Sacramento Fashion Week will take place the week of February 21. Several events are planned for the event including two Designer Showcases with the final show on February 25. The International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) recently held its fourth annual Imagine Fashion Showcase. The Hilton Arden West Hotel in Sacramento hosted the very well-attended event. This showcase benefitted the Career Educational Scholarship Fund and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northern California. The annual Imagine Showcase, “The Future of Design,” featured the work of over a dozen fashion designers.
