Men of all ages and shoe sizes gathered at the corner of 18th Street and Capitol Avenue, ready to walk one mile in women’s high heels to support WEAVE’s first “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event. “There are so many men that are affected by sexual assault, and this is a way for men to show their support,” said Amber Stott, WEAVE director of communications relations. Stott estimated that since Friday WEAVE has raised over $63, 000. Stott said all proceeds will go to WEAVE and benefit the various services that WEAVE provides, including counseling, WEAVE safe house, legal assistance, prevention programs and 24-hour support and response teams to help survivors of sexual assault. In addition to
More than $100 million in rare coins and banknotes will be joining the biggest gold nugget still in existence ever discovered in California next week as the National Money Show comes to Sacramento. “You’ll never see this much money in one place at any other time,” said Jay Beeton, marketing and education director of the American Numismatic Association, organizers of the National Money Show. Numismatists collect coins, banknotes and precious metals. “You don’t have to be a coin collector to enjoy the show,” he added. “If you have an appreciation of history and you want to spend a day doing something different, this is an opportunity to make this a family day.” In addition to the nearly

A similar life of adventure can be yours without having to venture far from home, through the sport of geocaching. Armed with a GPS unit (or a downloaded Global Positioning System application on your phone) and a list of treasure sites (www.geocaching.com), you can quickly be on your way to uncovering hidden gems in your own neighborhood. There are more than one million geocaches worldwide and 3,500 of them are in the Sacramento region. Chances are that you drive past the hidden container
MURDER, MAYHEM, GHOSTS AND LIVE TV. ALL IN A DAYS WORK! Everything that could possibly go wrong on a live television segment at a haunted spot happened the morning of Oct 26th, 2010. As I was preparing for investigating the site with GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO # 31 (KMAX-TV) the transmitting cable on their truck went haywire forcing them to bring in another truck, and the mikes for Marianne McClary, anchor and seasoned reporter, went dead and had to be changed several times. I knew then that we were in for a bumpy ride. Chalk another up to restless spirits causing excitement. The Dorothea Puente Murder House in Sacramento, California at this moment is a powder keg waiting to explode. Espec
SACRAMENTO – More than 10,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their friends will descend on parks throughout the Sacramento region Saturday, May 8, to perform necessary work from clean-up and general maintenance to painting, planting trees and even construction jobs. Under the banner of Mormon Helping Hands, an international program of the Church that has provided manpower in distressed communities and organized relief efforts after natural disasters, the volunteers have chosen parks in their own communities to perform work in state, regional and city parks that have been hit hard by the recent downturn in the economy. The Sacramento effort is part of a stat
Spirits we brought with us, resident ghosts, and more. An interesting investigation was held by GOLD RUSH GHOSTS INTERNATIONAL PARANORMAL INVESTIGATIONS for the television show INVESTIGATING THE UNKNOWN on December 27th, 2009. We had been invited by the staff of the McCormack Williamson Winery to come and see what was going on, as strange things seemed to be happening in the building that they could not pin-point. As the Celebrities Psychic, I had been on a recent television investigation at this winery this last Halloween with KMAX GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO Channel 31. At that time I found the building to be rather interesting and exploratory in the true ghost/spirit sense. And so we jumped at
By The Celebrities Psychic NANCY BRADLEY The spirit sprinted in front of me, seemingly without a care in the world. She looked back at me several times, smiling, inviting me to follow. But on this day she did not want to go inside. As I went to open the door she disappeared, back into the yard, poof and gone. I guess the active young one was suddenly bored with me and had other interests to pursue. I hoped our time together was not over for this trip. She is a lovely child of about three years old and full of energy. She is gone in life but still hanging around. She lived here once, enjoys the garden. But then, who wouldn’t? The Glen Morey Country House was built in 1859, and today as a b
By The Celebrities Psychic NANCY BRADLEY Sometimes a building is not haunted itself; the artifacts it holds are. This is the fantastic case of the Discovery/History Museum in Old Town Sacramento, California, located on Ist Street in Old Sac. It was not too long ago that as the Celebrities Psychic I received a call from the Discovery Museum. They had been hearing strange noises. Employees talked of things being put one place and found in another. Most of the activity was happening upstairs they told me. One employee said “I saw a person upstairs at the old carriage. It was before we opened the doors for the day. The person was dressed in ‘old time’ clothes and I thought, well, they must ha
Old Town Sacramento, California, the states capitol, is an interesting place in any event, boasting old buildings and a history of underground tunnels and opium dens in the early day of the Gold Rush fever in California. This particular building, now called the Brickside Restaurant was recently explored for our television show, INVESTIGATING THE UNKNOWN WITH GOLD RUSH GHOSTS INTERNATIONAL PARANORMAL INVESTIGATIONS. The building has strange and uncanny stories to tell. Located at 106 J. Street in old town Sacramento, the place has its own interesting history as well, which of course, in itself, brings on more ghosts and spirits, as well as remnants of the same. Originally the structure was
By The Celebrities Psychic NANCY BRADLEY Disembodied voices in an empty room. Glasses clinking when no one is there. A few years ago, David Mintz, then owner/manager of Rivendell Books at 352 Main Street, Placerville, California, heart of the gold rush country, made an astonishing find. His store was haunted. What started as an ordinary day would prove fateful. This particular cloudy winter morning he stepped from his car as he always did, and walked the few steps to the front door of his business. It was there he crossed the threshold to the unknown. As he fumbled to put the key in the lock to open the store for the day, he heard voices. Startled, he carefully and silently removed the key
By The Celebrities Psychic NANCY BRADLEY “UNTIL ONE HAS LOVED AN ANIMAL, A PART OF ONE’S SOUL REMAINS UNAWAKENED” Anatole, French Novelist There is only one statue in all of New York City that does not need to be polished in spite of weather, bird droppings, dust, grime and elements, and that is the statue of BALTO. Balto is the beautiful Siberian husky sled dog that is immortalized as one of the 150 dogs that brought relief in the form of serum to the citizens of Nome, Alaska in 1925-26 from the horrible diphtheria epidemic killing the residents. And the reason the statue does not need continual polishing and cleaning is because residents and guests to the site pet the statu
THE EMPIRE THEATRE Gone, but Still There By The Celebrities Psychic NANCY BRADLEY It’s a quiet walk down Main Street in Placerville, California for you now. The town is situated in the heart of the gold rush country, surrounded by trees and hills, and the traffic had stopped in this old section when the stores closed for the night. It would be easy to feel very alone, the streets are deserted. Things seem somehow eerie. A strange, swirling patch of cold wind passes you on an otherwise unseasonably warm night in November. And then the unexplained sounds of strange yet seemingly ancient voices attract you to a building that once was a theatre. You look up at the marquis that was the billbo
By Nancy Bradley My office in northern California has been dubbed the “Enchanted Cottage.” Although it is in a small town about 30 miles outside of Sacramento, I am reluctant to move my Friday Night Psychic Classes to a larger location closer to a big city because of the extreme psychic energy that is represented here. Those who come to the classes agree that it is worth the drive not only to hear the lectures, but to enjoy the spirits that reside here with me. The cottage area, by all accounts (and confirmed by former Historian of the area Dennis Witcher), was the site of the miner’s mortuary in the 1800s. It was also the location of a doctor’s office and the toll house where you would p
