Spring 2013 fashion show at Sac State

“Project Runway” made its way to Sacramento State University's Union Ballroom this pastt Friday night. Loosely patterned after the “Project Runway” reality television series, participants competed to be selected as the winning designer at SFA's spring 2013 “Project Runway” inspired fashion show. Designers were judged on their marvelous work and a winning designer was selected at the end of the competition. KCRA anchor/reporter Lisa Gonzalez served as host for the evening. Minjeong Kang, Esther Amato, Simone Vianna and Duane Ram served as judges for the fashion shown and selected the top designer at the end of the showcase. Fashion Week Sold Out

Sold-out events and a full lineup of apparel designers are the keys to a successful fashion show. Sacramento Fashion Week accomplished both, capping off events at the Elks Lodge Ballroom Friday and Saturday. Executive Director Duane Ram spearheaded the creation of Sacramento Fashion Week in 2006. “People think it’s easy to just put on a fashion show, especially if they haven’t worked in (one),” he said. Ram credits the area’s collegiate programs with creating an environment rife with talent. 2012 Sacramento Fashion Week workshops

The International Academy of Design & Technology, located at 2450 Del Paso Road in Sacramento, hosted a model boot camp and a style workshop for designers, models and fashion industry representatives Wednesday evening as part of Sacramento Fashion Week. Day 2 of the event was well attended with both free workshops filled to capacity. IADT students were well represented at the workshops, although the public was welcome as well. Sacramento Fashion Week Press Party

Mayahuel Tequila Museo hosted an elegant evening of fashion on Thursday night. Designers scheduled to participate in the Designer Showcase were on hand to celebrate a Sacramento Fashion Week Press Party. This year’s Sacramento Fashion Week will take place the week of February 21. Several events are planned for the event including two Designer Showcases with the final show on February 25.
