Bakery blog hosts fundraiser for Japan

Sacramento food blog Munchie Musings held an online auction on Friday and Saturday to raise donations for the nonprofit ShelterBox, which will send aid and supplies to tsunami and earthquake- devastated Japan. The bake sale was organized as an auction by Catherine Enfield, the writer behind Munchie Musings (link) blog. The idea was one she had seen before. “Last year, I saw similar bake sales for Haiti,” she said, “but I wanted mine to be Sacramento area-oriented.” Enfield said there were more than 52 items donated to the online auction, such as a dozen cupcakes from Angelina Ray Cupcakes, dinner for 10 from Chipotle and a dim sum brunch for five from Red Lotus Kitchen and Bar. A Celebrity Chef With No Kitchen

 On April 30th the InAlliance, a local non-profit serving the developmentally disabled, is holding its 8th Annual Celebrity Chef Challenge.  The event is a no-holds-barred, Iron Chef-esque competition of the best known Sacramento area chefs and restaurants.  While looking over the list of entrants there was a single standout competitor: Cakegrrl.  While the name might sound more like an online identity than a chef, Cakegrrl is no stranger to the Sacramento food scene.  When she visited Sacramento for a single day in 2003, it was love at first sight, and since moving here in 2004 Cakegrrl (also known as Kristy Devaney) has been a big hit both online and off.  A chronic blogger who posts re
