Just Be Theatre Company to offer trio of encore performances of '3'

Just Be Theatre Company has announced that Sacramento's Artisan Theatre will host a trio of encore performances for the Anthony D'Juan play "3," conceived and performed by Danielle Moné Truitt, June 29-July 1, 2012. The one-woman show, which had its Sacramento premiere June 7-10, is the first in a proposed trilogy ("Nappy Hair and Other Black Girl Blues") that examines "the lives of three women connected by friendship and history, while delving into the social and cultural issues rooted in misconceptions of race and beauty." Truitt back in Sac performing new one-woman show at Artisan Theatre

For triple-threat Danielle Moné Truitt, it's not scents, songs or even Hipstamatic prints that prompt feelings of nostalgia. As wiggy as it seems, Truitt says the touchstones that trigger her internal "Way-Back Machine" are hairdos. New Helvetia Theatre Marks It's Second Anniversary with "They're Playing Our Song"

New Helvetia Theatre is dedicated to performing American musical theater shows. Their selection tends to be contemporary, as the most recent productions were “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” “tick, tick, Boom!,” “It’s Only Life” and “[title of show].” The current production, “They’re Playing Our Song,” reaches much further back, to December 1978. The book is by one of American theater’s most established playwrights, Neil Simon. The composer is Marvin Hamlisch and the lyricist is Carole Bayer Sager.
