Racing for a Reason: Stephanie Nuccitelli

The fourth annual Race for the Ring is coming to Sacramento on July 14, 2012. This text messaged based treasure hunt on bike through downtown Sacramento directly benefits programs at Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS). Teams of two will pedal, scoot and wheel their way through downtown Sacramento guided by text message clues in search of more than $10,000 in prizes.

Each week leading up to the event, we will interview someone who is involved in the race to find out why they are racing for a reason.

Today's interview is with Stephanie Nuccitelli, Social Media Lead at The Sacramento Press, teacher at UC Davis Early Childhood Lab School and publisher of a food blog, 52 Kitchen Adventures. In her spare time she loves to bake, try new recipes and spends time with her friends, family and pet rabbit.

The Sacramento Press: Racers will be racing around town in search of jewelry graciously donated by Rogers Jewelry Company. What is your favorite piece of jewelry?
Stephanie Nuccitelli: My favorite piece of jewelry is a heart-shaped necklace that my boyfriend Russ gave me several years ago for my birthday.

SP: What are you looking forward to the most about this year's event?
SN: Riding on my newer, faster bike and hopefully not getting a flat tire like I did last time! I'm also looking forward to learning more about Sacramento and having a fun day riding around town.

SP: What motivates you to be part of this cause?
SN: Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) is a wonderful organization that helps so many people in our community. I support them whenever I can, and this is a fun way to do so.

SP: If you participated last year, what was your favorite thing about the race?
SN: I participated 2 years ago. The best part of the race was cruising around Sacramento trying to figure out the clues. I learned a lot about the area that day!

SP: What is your role with Race for the Ring 2012 and/or Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services?
SN: I'm a Race for the Ring racer and a SFBFS supporter.

SP: What is one thing the public might not (but should) know about Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services?
SN: SFBFS provides so much more than food. They offer free educational services for children and adults, clothing, parent education, and a lot more. Plus, every $1 donated to SFBFS is turned into $10 worth of products and services for the Sacramento community - that's pretty amazing!

SP: Anything else you'd like to add about yourself or the event?
SN: Race for the Ring is such a fun event and supports a local organization that does so much good in our community. If you're reading this, you should think about signing up - you won't regret it!

Here at The Sacramento Press, we want to provide you with the tools you need to confidently deliver your message to readers. To help polish your voice, we provide free copy editing to all of our community contributors. While we don’t require you to have your article edited, we strongly encourage it since articles are permanent once they are published. It’s always helpful to have a second set of eyes review your work!

The best part is, it’s a fast and easy process. Just send a draft of your article to journalism@sacramentopress.com and an edited copy will be returned within 24 hours, ready to copy and paste. We offer copy editing every day except Saturdays.

A couple quick tips about the copy editing process:

* It’s best to send your draft within the body of the e-mail instead of an attachment to be sure our editors can view your article.
* It’s not necessary to send images to copy editing.
* If you have questions about posting on the site, please direct them to our support staff at support@sacramentopress.com.
* Our copy editors typically only edit for spelling and grammar, but if you would like more feedback, just let the editor know when submitting your draft.
* Your article will be returned to you, ready to copy and paste. Please specify if you would like to see the edits that were made.
