This Black Friday seemed to be the year of the flat screen televisions. In almost every cart at Fry's Electronics was a giant flat screen TV sitting in a tilted position in carts.
Shopping on Black Friday is pure insanity. It's the frenzy of the event that has drawn me in for the second year.
Fry's Electronics this year was no exception. This was my first Black Friday at Fry's.
Black Friday gets its name from the economics of the day. Generally it's the day of the year when retailers become profitable or "go into the black." And it's always the Friday after Thanksgiving.
As with many establishments, when I showed up at 4:30 A.M. I was about 800th in line. The line took me to parts of the Fry's Parking lot I didn't even know existed.
The fun part about the line was that even though there were about 800 people in line in front of us, there were probably about 200 or more people in line behind us. However the line moved quickly as the store is enormous.
Once we hit the inside of the store people started running to the bargains. I however had little on my agenda. There were few deals that seemed that alluring this year.
In the end I didn't buy the Blu-Ray DVD player that I thought I might. Even so the excitement of the whole event made it all worthwhile.
Plus by getting all your shopping done in the wee hours of the morning, you can make the early bird special breakfast at Cornerstone Restaurant. This is an amazing way to wrap up a frenzied morning of post Thanksgiving shopping, with even more food.
