Mayor Johnson, PLEASE. Enough with the Kings already! We have more important issues that require your attention.

His strategy is flawed.

1. 25 people x $1M = not even close. Should give up at this point but no.
2. Find the biggest rich a-hole that likes basketball Sorry Mark Cuban already taken.
3. Still willing to waste taxpayer money despite huge opposition.
4. Using the fans to enable #4

What does the Mayor do all day? Austin is getting all the new money. He's a shambles.

I'm not happy about the Kings leaving, but this has to stop.

Now this just feels like some kind of long breakup form a dysfunctional relationship. You know what I mean? You're sad and sorry to see them leave, like you really wish it had worked out, you both wouldn't have gotten involved with each other and tried to make it work so hard if you hadn't really believed in it. But once it's done, like actually over, you can't help but feel somekind of a sense of relief.

Let'em go. Lets move on. Date ourselves for a bit. You know? Sacramento really needs to "hit the gym" for a while, do some introspection, be honest with itself about it's problems, work on those. Basically, learn, grow, improve, and turn into the kind of place that's ready for a new and even better relationship in the future.

The figure needed is estimated well under $300M. There is quite a chance that a deal will be made that keeps the Kings in Sac.

I can understand the cynism directed at KJ, but this is bigger than pacifying Kings fans in this area. This is about jobs first and foremost, 1,000 or more gone if the Kings leave. If KJ does pull another miracle and save the Kings, not only does he retain those 1,000 jobs but adds to it significantly with the thousands of jobs created by the entertainment and sports complex that will be built. Our local government certainly has a lot of issues, but in my opinion Johnson is a part of the solution, not the problem.

@David - I would urge you to check out all the wonderful investment happening right now in Texas. Austin in particular.

Clean Tech http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2103780,00.html
Semi con and software http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomtaulli/2012/08/21/austin-the-best-place-for-your-startup/

And this http://www.siliconhillsnews.com/2012/12/07/austin-ranks-among-the-nations-largest-tech-hubs/

If he's focused on just one thing - a stupid losing stupid sports team and a phantom arena then Apple are just going to build their manufacturing plants elsewhere.

Stupid basketball. Stupid short sighted Mayor.

We played real sports like rugby and soccer at school :-)

Basketball creates very few well paying jobs (the Team) and a bunch of hot dog vendor jobs.

Surely we can do better than that?
