By Susan Rabinovitz and Denise Coleman

A sunny Sept. 29 at Fremont Park brought craft beer enthusiasts and foodies together for a great day of fundraising and beer and slider tasting. The hosts Sacramento Artists Council, Inc., Dad’s Kitchen and SacramentoPress.com say thank you to the participants and guests for a tremendous day.

We would like to extend a special thanks to the more than 20 Northern California microbreweries and seven local restaurants for donated games, beers, ciders and sliders. Slider participants included Blackbird Kitchen & Bar, Kupros, Tequila Museo Mayahuel, Burgess Brothers Burgers, Chops Steakhouses and Dad’s Kitchen. The winner of the Judges’ Choice award was River City Brewing Company (because the bread was amazing), and the People’s Choice award went to Bistro Michel (because the lamb was spectacular).

Thank you to celebrity judges, including Sacramento City Council candidate Joe Yee, internationally known cartoonist Eric Decetis and restaurateur Kimio Bazett (owner of Golden Bear and the new Hook & Ladder Manufacturing Company, and winner of the  Sacramento Beer and Chili Industry Cook-off).

The day could not be complete without the kids’ zone hosted by Staging A Miracle, and the face painting hosted by Theodore Judah Elementary PTA. Also, a special shoutout for the phenomenal work of our friends and family that we suckered into volunteering at the bike valet, cooking sliders and in general being the greeting committee at Sliders and Suds. For entertaining music and sound, thank you to Tommy Sellers and the bands As Yet Untitled and Pushtanawanda. Thank you to our sponsors, Hot Italian, Beatnik Studios, Wa-tah & Titan Insurance.

Sacramento Artists Council, Inc., Dad’s Kitchen and SacramentoPress.com host the annual Sacramento Sliders and Suds as well as the Sacramento Beer & Chili Festival to raise money to keep art and music in our local schools. Save the dates for more memorable events:
