Name: Sarah Pollo

Hometown: Roseville

Current Neighborhood: Sacramento (Elmhurst)

Occupation: Senior Account Executive/Part-time Grad Student

Relationship Status: Single as a slice of bread!

Age: 28

Kickball Seasons:

Spring 2012 - GRID-unit

Fall 2012 – GRID-unit

Interesting Fact: "I LOVE macaroni and cheese so much that I have created a blog about my adventures with the creamy noodle goodness that was recently featured by Dad's Kitchen."

Fun Fact: "I sang Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby” acapella in the 6th grade in a pink frilly dress with matching white frilly socks."

Random Fact: "When you type my name in a text using an iPhone, the auto correct changes it to SARS."

Taking some advice from a friend playing in kickball is what led Sarah to become a seasoned kickballer herself: “…it just so happened to be right when I was going through a breakup. I reluctantly signed up for kickball when she told me it would be a good way to 'keep busy and distracted' and after the first team BBQ I was hooked!”

Sarah is known for bringing tons of energy and competitive edge to the field in what she prefers to call “…a creative way to multi-task, kicking the ball while also telling off my opponents.” And when the game is over, and she gets to relax with her teammates and the league at the sponsor bar Republic Bar and Grill, the multi-tasking does not stop for her: “You can play ski ball while holding a PBR tall can,” which is what you’ll find her doing if she is not busy playing flip cup or her personal favorite “flip cup with no hands.”

But there is one thing she is careful not to multi-task with: “Kickball has taught me to be careful mixing business with pleasure and kickball is business. So take that for what it is.”

This girl does not mess around when it comes to her game!

Disclosure: Cristina Lupercio has played kickball for 5 seasons and has served on the local league committee since Fall 2010

That's funny! I must've missed the feature on SacramentoPress where the computer screen reaches out and forces you to click on article links to force you to read the ones you do not have interest in to which you are then forced to spew your bigotry. Lighten up already!

Mark, as someone who has a huge presence in the Social Media market here in Sacramento, I am sure you understand that we are using a series like this to expose people to a fun and great activity that may reach people who have never seen or heard of this before.

You should come and check it out sometime, im sure that you would have a great time.

Mark, I am with Darren, I invite you to join us for a game before you dismiss these articles as anything other than pure gold!

On another note, since when did people get tired of reading about cute girls that like to play social sports?

I'm not knocking the content which is funny and compelling and I know Kickbal isl a super fun time, I've played before. Yes the girls are cute but sadly I'm over 40 and a bit too old to be dating hipster kickballer chicks.

Also, @Sacresident515 I get the RSS feed so I see everything that gets posted.

I was commenting that 4 weeks of the same thing is maybe not the best way to recruit. I wish you guys all the best.

Allow we to step in. We encouraged Cristina to post a weekly feature highlighting a new player each time. These are used for the WAKA splash page: http://www.sacramentopress.com/tag/waka

This is similar to the weekly "Racing for a Reason" articles I sometimes post, "Volunteer Spotlight" that Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, etc.

I love them and think it's a creative way of promoting the league without directly advertising so hope you keep posting them!
