After hearing about the theft donations that had been collected for homeless veterans from Camp Pollock last week, Sacramento County employees organized a collection drive to help replace the items. Members of the Departments of Human Assistance and Health and Human Services organized drop off points throughout the County organization and spread the word.
In just a few days, barrels and boxes of new goods were collected, including clothing, hoody sweatshirts, socks, T-shirts, underwear, toiletries, shoes, towels, eyeglasses, full sized shampoo, shirts, sweaters, face cloths and more. The donations will be delivered to the Stand Down organization on Thursday in time for this weekend’s event.
An estimated 400 veterans will be served at the September 21-23 Stand Down event at Camp Pollock.
