More than 100,000 pounds of free groceries, along with clothing, shoes, newly cut hair, photographic portraits, repaired bikes and teeth, and the people sporting them, left Cal Expo with renewed hope thanks to Sacramento Convoy of Hope today.

"We're facing people with a lot of problems. We give them food and some will last for a few months," Jonathan Zachariou, a pastor with
Davis Christian Assembly. "But the bigger issues are about hope, that there is a God and that he loves them."

"It's a citywide effort to let folks know God still cares for them," he explained.

111 churches are directly involved.

"Two hours into being open we've had 6,000 people come through," Zachariou explained. "We were hoping for 20,000." This trumpeter played solo for the folks passing by. Love the smile on the guy's face at the bottom! Warms my heart. I love that they offered tattoo removal too!

Thanks for capturing such a positive and moving event, Kati.
