Historic Sutter Street was closed off to traffic as cowboys and cowgirls steered cattle down the street as hundreds of spectators watched as other Folsom based businesses and organizations followed the cattle drive path on foot, horse or carriage.

Many observers donned cowboy hats and outfits to relive a Pony Express ride. Entertainment also took place at the new amphitheater as well as other eateries and pubs. Did I say pubs? Make that bars and saloons.

Vendors occupied tables from the rail station up to the amphitheater and family fun events and western style activities kept visitors entertained.

Before the cattle drive began the Folsom Leading Young Professionals (FLYP) staged a drive of their own collecting perishable food items that went to the Twin Lakes Food Bank.

The FLYP drive is called Bulls and Brews Urban Iditerod and teams pushed shopping carts collecting food items placed in the middle of the street. Visitors were also encouraged to bring donated food items and gave them to the shopping cart teams as they passed by.

Folsom continues to host one of the last cattle drives in Northern California. The event is sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank and they also provided the Wells Fargo Stage Coach which along with the long horns is an icon for the annual Folsom cattle drive.
