Colfax - Gals, grab your glitter, gold lamé with shoulder pads, and colored mascara. Guys, get your Members Only jackets out, the Angel Flights ready, and wear that polo. It is reunion time, and the Colfax High School Classes of 1982 and 1983 have put together an event of a lifetime, but it is selling out fast. Saturday, July 7, 2012, 5:30 p.m., at the Memorial Hall in Colfax, reunite with old friends, eat dinner and dance to the greatest hits from the ‘80s.

“I am so looking forward to seeing everyone,” said Tracy Simpson, one of the event organizers. “Payments are due no later than June 20, and I am sure we are going to sell out the venue. If you have not paid your money, you might miss out because the site only has a limited amount of space and we can only have 140 people. It is just thrilling to hear from those far and near planning on being present.”

Entry to the event is $35 per person with registration. All registrations are nonrefundable. Either mail the registration to Jan DeBates, 4408 Tanglewood Drive, Phoenix AZ 85048, or pay by PayPal to jan@hbknwsw.com and include your specific registration information. Check out their Facebook “Colfax High Class of 82 & 83 Reunion” page and see pictures from the last reunion. Post your pictures of then and now. Check to see who is coming and who is missing. Stay up to date on other possible events, such as a Friday night gathering at a local bar.

“Class reunions are a time to reminisce and get together to proactively project forward thinking into what lies beyond in the great future,” said Jan DeBates. “I love seeing where people have been, where they are going, how they plan on getting there and most of all, the changes that have made them grow. We have decision makers, risk takers and world changers in our midst. It is enlightening to see and hear who has accomplished various things from motherhood to career; everything shared is delightful.”

Other than the graduates from Colfax High School, 1982 was most known for the introduction of the CD player, opening of the Epcot Center in Florida, dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the death of John Belushi and the birth of Prince William. It was a great year in movies with “ET,” “Fast Times” and “The Wall” all at the box office. Olivia Newton John had us getting physical and Joan Jett had us loving rock ‘n’ roll. But Michael Jackson ruled the music scene and the airwaves with “Thriller,” which became the best-selling album of all, in time. The classes of ’82 and ’83 could moonwalk, but best of all they can gather for “Thriller” night where there ain’t any second chance. Of course this occurred when they weren’t singing “We Don’t Need No Education.”

For more information post questions on Facebook ‘Colfax High Class of 82 & 83 Reunion” directed to Jan McCullough-DeBates or Frank Nann. You can also call Jan at (480)296-5517. There will be absolutely NO last minute walk-in will be admitted. All registrations must be paid in full, in advance either by check in the mail or through PayPal.

Disclosure: I graduated from Colfax High School in 1982 and have attended one reunion in 30 years. This is a wonderful group of people and should prove to be a fun event.
