Back in December 2010 Meea Kang, a principal at Domus Development said to Brandon Darnell, Sacramento Press reporter, “We’re here to bring, I think, the most contemporary, most cutting-edge design that we could bring to one of the oldest residential neighborhoods of Sacramento.”
Nearing completion of the La Valentina in the Alkali Flat area, it appears San Francisco-based company in charge of the project has accomplished what it set out to do.
The La Valentia is a definite upgrade at the corner of 12th and D streets and is adjacent to the La Valentina Light Rail Station. According to the Domus Management website, Sacramento's La Valentia's 81 affordable units include studios, 1, 2 & 3 bedrooms. Spacious energy efficient units that will reduce your utility bills.

I really wish they didn't sit right on the light rail line, for noise and safety reasons, but they are beautiful and appear to be well-thought out and eco-friendly. I wish all affordable developments were so.

I think being at the light rail station is one of the best things about this project. Having lived by light rail at R/24th, the crossing gates are by far the loudest part. This location doesn't have gates, and I think many residents won't have a problem with the noise.
