Carmichael Dave, a local radio personality instrumental in generating support for keeping the Sacramento Kings in town for the past year, announced on Twitter Wednesday that he is no longer employed by CBS Radio affiliate KHTK.

“As (of) today I am no longer a part of CBS Radio,” he tweeted from his @CarmichaelDave Twitter handle. “I’ll expand later. To each and every person that has put up with my voice, I love you.”

In a later tweet, he said he was “thoroughly gutted,” and added that his leaving was not contract-related, saying he “asked for nothing.”

Below is a selection of tweets from locals that sprung up after the news, many of which used the hashtag #ThankYouDave.

Calls for comment to KHTK have not been returned.

Those Rat Bastards at CBS Radio, Sports 1140, The Fan whatever...First Mike Lamb, then the Rise Guys, and now Carmichael Dave. What the hell is going on over there? Do the listeners matter at all, REALLY...I don't think so. The managment should change! Clean house and fire all involved in running this station in the GROUND!

I think they cut Dave to afford that sorry ass Dan Patrick Show...DP Show blows. Yeah 1140, that is what people want...more canned radio focused on national sports, that we can not interact with. Great "direction" your moving in. Your lineup is beginning to look more like your competitors lineup. Perhaps you can replay the Mike and Mike Show after Grant Napear.
