Public Encouraged to complete online budget exercise

The City of Sacramento released an online budget exercise that asks, “What should the role of City government be?” The brief budget exercise will provide the community an opportunity to share with the City what their priorities are in the following areas:

- Economic Vitality
- Healthy, Sustainable Environment
- Leisure, Cultural and Social Opportunities
- Reliable Infrastructure and Effective Mobility
- Safe Community
- Youth Opportunities and Education

The budget exercise results will be presented to the City Council during budget hearings in May and June. The budget exercise can be found on the front page of the City’s website at: www.cityofsacramento.org.

The Fiscal Year 2012/13 Proposed Budget was released on April 26 and is balanced and addresses a projected $18 million shortfall for FY2012/13. The Proposed Budget includes the elimination of approximately 286 Full-Time Equivalent positions.

It should be to keep the pools open and when the voters don't approve a special tax for a arena you don't go "well I guess they don't know what their talking about, let's try to help the Maloofs in anyway we can, anyway" Stick to the basics safety, streets, parks, water, utilites, garbage, etc. and try not to let our City jobs go away for our children. Stop the union busting and privatizing. Give all the services you have ever before, you have been an entity for along time and never went bankrupt before. Put your citizens first, then your employees, then your contractors/vendors, get rid of the people that don't care about the City of Sacramento and are just trying to get to the top without care of ethics or integrity.
