The Sacramento Library provides literary experiences for children ages 0-3 years old. These enriching events are held throughout the Sacramento region at multiple library branches each month.
Children, parents or caretakers have the opportunity to interact in a literary rich environment. A language-filled experience consists of more than books and storytelling, but is filled with music, social time, nursery rhymes, and games. For new mothers, there is a bonding time program called “Baby Lapsit Storytime” intended for infants 0-24 months.

The importance of creating meaningful learning experiences is often overlooked with the idea that human learning comes natural. However, when children are in a sensory rich environment, such as what the program “Baby /Toddler Stay & Play” for 0-18 month infants offers, parents and caretakers can help stimulate the learning experience through unstructured play time, developmental appropriate toys and musical performances.

For older children 1 1/2 to 3 years old, the program “Story & Play” offers engaging stories, finger plays, fun songs and a half hour of open play time. Children this age can begin early with gaining literary skills through social interaction that includes storytelling and play.
