Bill Swayze enjoys entering contests on 96.9 The Eagle’s website, but little did he know that being chosen as their lucky winner would come at the perfect time for him and his family.
After learning that a limb from a large heritage oak tree had fallen onto his son’s garage rendering it unusable, Bill wanted to help. Following his daily ritual, Bill went on to 96.9 The Eagle’s website that same morning only to discover a new PODS Moving and Storage of Sacramento’s Free Storage contest. In hopes that his son, Ty, could use the free storage while his garage was being repaired, Bill entered the contest.
Receiving nearly 300 entries in the contest, participants were asked to tell why they needed the use of a PODS® storage container. Stories ranged from needing assistance with moving, to wanting to organize old items in the garage to simply having too much junk. One entry stood out from the rest.
“After reading what had happened to Mr. Swayze’s son, we were eager to help out,” said Brian Bills, territory manager of PODS Sacramento. “PODS is very involved in the community and always eager to help out those in need. We are so glad that someone so deserving has won much-needed free storage.”
Bill was overjoyed at the announcement of the prize and immediately re-gifted the free storage to his son to help during his garage’s rebuild process. Ty and his wife received a PODS® storage container along with 6 months of free storage.
PODS of Sacramento is owned and operated by Storage Mobility which operates 21 franchises across the U.S., The firm currently owns more than 8,800 PODS® branded containers and employs approximately 100 people.
