The Neighborhood Advisory Group (NAG) will meet this Monday 3/21/2011.  This month's meeting will focus on Second Saturday and Midtown Nightlife issues.  There are changes being made to Second Saturday as was reported by Suzanne Hurt on SacPress.  This is partially in response to the shooting death and injuries that occurred in the early morning hours of September 12, 2011.

Keep this up and it will be managed to death and by next year there won't be a Second Saturday.

yes it's much better to let it be an unmanaged mess until someone gets hurt

that may be true but no regulation leads to the mayhem we experienced last summer - huge crowds descending on neighborhoods and business areas and increased property crime and sadly - violent crime. So what are we to do? Keep it in balance perhaps? Try to return it to an arts centered event? Instead of a street party. Midtown neighborhoods and businesses cannot take the free for all it has been for the last two or three years. As much as I love going out on Second Saturday and enjoying the event, as a Midtown property owner I would rather see it die than spin out of control and further endanger visitors and residents, our unique residential neighborhoods and business areas that make Midtown the special place it is.

Deep down inside, aren't you embarrased to attend a "NAG" meeting?

Why would anyone be embarrassed to attend a neighborhood advisory group meeting? Do you think that you are too superior or are too good to mix with the common neighborhood folk who sponsored and have run this forum for well over 10 years? Try it, you might like it.

Can someone explain the difference between Second Saturday events in Sacramento and Folsom insomuch as I've never heard of Folsom having problems like those documented in Sacramento? Is there something they're doing that Sacramento is not? Unless the difference is purely demographic, or even socioeconomic, it would seem that however they have things structured in Folsom is perhaps how things could be structured in Sacramento.

The last Second Sat event I got graffiti outside on my apartment building as well as inside and this is a controlled acces building. Out of Control! City council talking about walkable alleys when we dont even have walkable streets.
