Yesterday morning, in the fog, I drove to Cosumnes River Preserve, about 30 miles south of where I live in Colonial Heights. I really had no idea what I would see.

As I neared the preserve along Bruceville Rd I saw bodies of water and brush. If I hadn't been paying attention, I would've missed a huge gathering of Sandhill Cranes in a foggy field.

I was practically the only person there.

These are some phenomenal shots. You really captured the grace and majesty of these beautiful birds, as well as the feel of the foggy stillness of a winter morning. Thank you!

Really nice crane fog shots. It's difficult to tell for sure but it looks like the dancing crane in the first shot is a juvenile (a yearling). He/she just has that look. CRP is a great place to be with the cranes. Especially in the fog. Nice effort.
