While here in Sacramento for the past few weeks visiting family and friends, Sgt. Kevin Cameron and his k-9 partner Ramo have also had the time to visit a few elementary schools in the area. Just giving the kids a chance to meet a real GI Joe and his dog, seems to be just as fun for Ramo as it is for the kids.

I had the chance to catch up with Sgt. Cameron and Ramo at Crocker Riverside Elementary to see just what takes place in these show and tells.

Cameron usually brings Ramo in and gives him a chance to sniff around and assess the situation; old habits die-hard I guess. Then he will give the kids a chance to go ahead and ask all sorts of questions about Ramo, himself and what it is that they do in the army.

Cameron goes over how they train the dogs and what kind of jobs that they do in the military, like bomb sniffing and take downs. It's great Cameron says, because if an enemy runs he just sicks Ramo on him and he does all the grunt work. And although Ramo is a great dog and very friendly he can definitely get the job done.

After a little bit of Q&A that’s when the fun starts and the kids are allowed to come up in small groups and spend some time with Ramo in a relaxed state. At the end of it all, Ramo even has his own trading card to hand out to all the kids. Looks like retirement is going just great for Ramo the war hero.
