In front of approximately 3000 fans, the ‘Spirit of Asia’ took to the stage at Thunder Valley Casino and Resort Saturday night. The group consisted of eleven different singers, two comedians and a presenter (Mc Ky Duyen).

The event was designed to bring together individual acts from across Asia, each a star in their own right. They would perform one or two songs and then the next would take to the stage to entertain the mostly Asian crowd. It was obvious by the crowd’s reaction that they not only knew the performers but really enjoyed the individual acts.

Starting the night off with a bang, Linda Chou bounced onto the stage and easily could have been mistaken for a young teen-idol from the states; wooing the crowd with her seductive looks and moves she definitely made many men smile.

After Chou a young man, Mai Tien Dung, came onto stage and performed his more romantic songs. He gave the women in the crowd a soft voice and a tantalizing performance. Third to the stage was Tam Doan and she sang what seemed like more tradition music. She was well received by the audience and her beautiful red dress popped-off the black background. Fourth to the stage was Cat Tuyen – dressed in a beautiful baby blue dress she came out and sang what must have been a national song somewhere - ‘Xin goi nhau la co nhan’. The song brought the audience to their feet with a roaring round of applause.

Although we did not stay for the entire concert/performance – the songs that we heard had a distinctive tone and were well backed-up by the band.

The rest of the performers in order of appearance:
Trinh Lam; Ngoc Ha; Tuan Anh; Von Son and Bao Chung; Tran Thu Ha; Dan Nguyen; Dan Nguyen and Bang Tam; Bang Tam; Nguyen Hung; Nguyen Hung and Ho Le Thu; Ho Le Thu

Yet another Thunder Valley ploy to keep the Asian community happy and gambling its hard-earned money away. One of my "three wishes" would be that sleazy, money-grabbing Indian casinos ceased to exist.
